Cain, this film is set during the Great Depression and follows Mildred, a determined housewife who has divorced her unfaithful husband and works as a waitress to support her family. She finds success in the restaurant industry, but her obsessive love for her spoiled daughter, Veda, leads to ruin and betrayal.
