Environment Events in Elizabeth Beach

Join us for an engaging Marine Discovery Event where leading scientists from the Taronga Conservation Society (in partnership with Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS), NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, and Gumbaynggirr Land and Sea Rangers) share exciting new insights from a groundbreaking marine turtle tracking project along the NSW coast, including the MidCoast area. Discover how tagging and satellite technology are revealing the movements, behaviours, and habitat use of green, loggerhead, and hawksbill turtles and how New South Wales is an increasingly important refuge for these threatened species in a changing climate. Learn about the challenges our turtles are facing and how this research is shaping future conservation efforts on our local beaches. The event will also empower you with practical knowledge on how to spot marine turtles and their nests, and how to safely and responsibly report sightings to support ongoing research and protection. A light dinner will be included as part of the event.
