Join bestselling, award-winning children's author-illustrator, Sean E Avery, for a paint and collage workshop. Sean often uses collage in his picture books and will show participants how to compose and construct magical forest scenes using a variety of textured papers and painting techniques – an engaging, hands-on session you'll want to wear an art shirt for! This workshop is suitable for children aged 7 years +. Please be advised that children under the age of 13 years are to be accompanied by an adult at this activity.

Home Maintenance 103: Prepare and paint a room. The Home Maintenance series takes you through all the basic tools and skills for simple home maintenance jobs. You’ll learn about suitable hardware, tools and techniques, along with tips and tricks for taking care of all those small jobs around the home you’d like to do yourself. This short course introduces you to painting techniques and processes for small interior jobs. It covers getting to know the tools, hardware and materials for preparing and painting a room, including: Learn to prepare different surfaces for painting (eg walls, ceilings, skirting boards, window frames and architraves), including choosing the best materials and hardware for these jobs. Learn how to patch a hole and repair cracks in plasterboard and plaster finished brick walls. Identify the correct paints, including primers, sealers and undercoats, for those surfaces. Choose the right brushes and rollers for each job and surface. Learn the step-by-step processes and techniques, in order to get the best finish on your walls, ceilings, doors and windows. Familiarise yourself with the home maintenance environment, practices and health and safety, including ladder use. What you bring: Yourself. All tools and materials are included in the registration.
