Art Events in Ewingsdale

A workshop for Northern Rivers artists to connect, experiment and rehearse collaboration around the climate emergency. This workshop extends the systems thinking mindset introduced in Workshop #1 into practice-led research. We will examine examples of climate artivism, creative intervention and joyfilled defiance including a local grass roots campaign now playing out in the federal court. Practical activities, provocations and small-group tasks will move participants from analysis into action, working with words, image-making and improvisation to generate creative concepts and quick pitches. This process rehearses multi-disciplinary collaboration and tactical project design to accelerate artistic innovation and reach, and inspire possibility. As expert communicators, artists have the potential to reframe these perilous times as opportunities to engage communities in the collective imagining of liveable futures, and help catalyse the cultural shift required for net zero and a full transition to renewable energy within 5 years. David Suzuki assures us that, 'the solutions are here. We just need to shift our priorities, hunker down and actualise them'. Participants will also help SeedArts shape future Catalysing Change workshops in which a shared leadership model supports imaginative, courageous and sustainable art-making. Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring your own lunch. This workshop is presented by Seed Arts with support from Arts Northern Rivers.
