This year, Astrid Serpentine was awarded a commission from the Central Coast Council's Creative Arts Central to write 'BLOOD' THE MUSICAL, a theatre performance exploring menstruation and womanhood. As part of her commission, Astrid is offering free workshops to girls and young women that explore the menstrual cycle through drama, art therapy, and movement. These workshops will be playful and fun, utilising imagination, expression and empowering ways to understand our first rite of passage (menstruation) as a group. Mums are welcome to join the workshops (please note, Astrid will encourage you to join in during the self expression aspects of the workshop. Although, you also welcome to just watch). These workshops will creatively explore: Physiological phases of menstruation - the 4-week cycle and characteristics. Emotional responses - Normalising changes in mood & energy levels at each week of the cycle Art therapy, drumming, singing, and drama exercises are some of the ways you will embody the teachings on the day.
