Join renowned American artist Kate Thompson for an inspiring workshop and discover the art of mixed media bookmaking in Canberra. We will create a fabric and paper book that evokes a vintage, timeworn aesthetic. This unique creation will feature an artful blend of antique linens and laces, vintage ledger papers and ephemera, botanical eco prints, watercolour papers, acrylics, earth pigments, pastels, charcoal, wire and tin, and other thoughtfully curated materials. Using multilayered mixed media techniques to create a personal and expressive book such as collage, mark making, embroidery, image transfers, distressing lace and fabrics with plaster, make a faux antique tin type photo, dyed papers, botanical printing, bookbinding and more. You will leave with a tattered and torn, timeworn book, filled with vintage treasures.
